Privacy Policy

Makay is an AI study companion operated by Smithdeveloped. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect information when you use the Makay website and apps. Questions can be sent to smithdeveloped@gmail.com.

Account information — your email address, account identifier, and secure authentication records. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not visible to us in plain text. We use this information to create, secure, and support your account.

Study content — your questions, chats, AI answers, study sessions, test dates, plans, progress, and answer reports. We use this information to provide the service, preserve your history, personalize explanations, send requested reminders, and improve safety and reliability.

Photos you upload — pictures of notes, textbooks, or worksheets. They are stored privately with your account and processed to read and explain the material you send.

Voice audio — captured only when you use voice features and sent to a speech provider for transcription or spoken playback. We do not retain the original audio recording after processing; the resulting chat text may remain in your history.

Preferences and device data — your chosen tutor name and voice, learning preferences, interests shared during setup, notification subscription, browser or device details, and basic usage and error data. We use these to personalize Makay, deliver features, prevent abuse, and fix problems.

We do not sell personal information, serve targeted advertising, or build advertising profiles.

We share information only as needed with providers that host accounts, databases and files; generate AI explanations; process images, speech, and transcripts; deliver notifications; and monitor errors. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a business transfer. These providers process data for us under their own security and contractual obligations.

The text, images, and conversation context needed to answer a request are sent to our AI service providers. Do not submit confidential information you do not want processed. AI answers may be inaccurate, and reports you submit may include a stored copy of the reported answer so it can still be reviewed if the original chat is deleted.

Account content remains while your account is active unless you delete it sooner. You can delete individual chats and other supported items in the app. Deleting your account removes your account and associated app data, including stored photos, reminders, and reports. Limited copies may remain in routine backups or security logs for up to 30 days, or longer where law requires us to retain them.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, or object to certain processing. You can delete your account in Settings or use our public account-deletion page. For other requests, email smithdeveloped@gmail.com from the address connected to your account. We may verify your identity before completing a request.

Camera and photos — only when you choose to send a photo of your notes.

Microphone — only while voice mode is open.

Notifications — only if you turn on study reminders.

You can refuse or withdraw any permission in your device settings. Features that require that permission will stop working, but the rest of Makay remains available.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted network connections and account-based access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate, subject to applicable safeguards.

Makay is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Users must also meet any higher minimum age required where they live. If you believe a child has provided information improperly, contact us so we can remove it.

Explanations are generated by AI and can be incomplete or wrong. Always check important answers against your course material. Makay is a study aid, not a substitute for your teacher, and it is not medical, legal or financial advice.

We may update this policy as Makay changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects your rights.
